Jeff began his professional career as a U.S. Air Force officer in 1985, after graduating magna cum laude from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He worked in the Air Force space program for over seven years, earning the rank of Captain and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. During this time, Jeff also developed a strong interest in investing, cultivating his skills in theories of portfolio diversification and strategic asset allocation. He left the Air Force in 1992 and brought this knowledge base to BFS. Jeff has since expanded his specialization to include deep value investing and corporate retirement plans.
Jeff is also a commercial/instrument rated pilot, and serves his community through volunteer work with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), an auxiliary of the Air Force. In this capacity he conducts search & rescue and disaster relief missions, and aerospace education for community teenagers.
